Our new loose ring comfort barrel is a great choice of bit for horses with little space in the mouth to fit a bit. Horses with low palates and large tongues with thick lips will appreciate one of these.

The sweet iron warms quicker in the mouth that stainless steel and tastes sweet to the horse which helps the horse salivate and accept the contact.

The barrel centre eliminates any pinching of the tongue. The barrel mouthpiece does not collapse around the tongue and bars like the double jointed bits and many horses prefer this. The bit has independent side movement to define the aids given. The loose ring is 60mm to suit larger horses. A loose ring is a good choice for horses that lean or dislike the feeling of a fixed cheek. The loose ring should be fitted so the skin is not pinched between the holes that the loose rings slide through. Loose ring bits should be fitted 1/4" to 1/2" bigger than fixed cheek bits.
