Our Universal bit is a smaller lightweight bit made with smaller universal cheeks. The smaller cheek is far less bulky than traditional bits. This makes the bit an ideal fit for smaller ponies. The reduced cheek size reduces weight and also works more effectively at applying poll pressure. 

This bit should be used with a curb strap attached the both top rings to prevent the cheek over rotating, which reduces the poll pressure.

This bit can be used as a standard snaffle by attaching the rein to the larger ring or as a gag action bit by attaching the rein to the bottom ring. 

This bit is made from sweet iron that tastes sweet and warms quicker than stainless steel when put in your horses mouth which in turn promotes salivation, acceptance, comfort and communication. We have designed the bits to be smooth, curved and soft to ensure maximum comfort is achieved in all disciplines. Our links are made much smaller that traditional bits to prevent irritation of the tongue and palate.

The smooth curved mouth piece with the comfort barrel centre creates an even pressure along the sensitive tongue and bars of the mouth. The mouthpiece whilst still allowing independent side movement  in the mouth and creates a stiller contact for the horse as the mouthpiece does not fully collapse as with double and single jointed bits.

Horses and ponies are fight or flight animals, who run or resist from discomfort and pain. A relaxed and comfortable horse that is comfortable and accepting of the bit is more likely to be responsive to the riders aids and not try to evade them.

That is why we have made these perfectly designed bits to ensure your horse or pony is comfortable at all times.

We have produced smaller rings and cheek pieces for small ponies on our bits as many traditional bits use large rings and cheek pieces therefore looking unsightly and heavy in the mouth of smaller ponies.
